Project: GT86

Carson Performance Air Cup Street GT86

The Story:

I’ve always loved the Toyota GT86, since the day it came out in 2012, therefore I had to take up the opportunity to own one when a Cat D one came up. The car had some substantial damage that required repairing, therefore I replaced as much as possible with genuine parts before it went off to Calbrook Coachworks. They put the car on the jig and measured up all the chassis to find it was only the very front end that needed replacing.
Once I got the car back, the first modifications I did to the car changed the tail lights to Valenti LED ones, which made a huge difference to the appearance along with the custom quad pipe exhaust that I fitted. As the passenger factory light was damaged when I got the car, I upgraded the front pair to some Spec-D headlights with sequential indicators. Next, thanks to Amber Performance, I upgraded the suspension to Tein Flex A Coilovers which dramatically improved the vehicle handling. I also fitted some adjustable Hardrace arms to the rearm which was needed due to the ride height that we were running. With the help of JapWest Mods supporting us with our project, I then stripped our GT86 and sent it off for a new roll cage to be fitted at Caged Laser. I went for a rear cage as it was a road car and I wanted to keep some creature comforts upfront. Caged offer a range of colours but of course, we went for blue to keep with our Carson Performance branding.
The next modification I completed on our GT86 was to install a StanceParts Air Cup Kit which made it so much easier to use the car. It meant it no longer scraped the underside when going over speed bumps and slopes and it no longer needed to be jacked up to get it on the ramp. Taking inspiration from the Fast and The Furious franchise, when they really kicked off the trend of under car neons nearly 20 years ago, we thought it only right to add them to our modern age performance car. Sadly this was the last modification we made on the GT86 before I sadly sold the car in order to move on to our next project car at Carson Performance.
